Art Classes with Kate Davey
6 week course starting on Monday 14th May, 11am – 1pm Scotsdales Great Shelford
People of all levels are welcome from beginners, who may have little experience in drawing, to more competent artists who are perhaps only familiar with more traditional methods using paint.
This course will allow students to explore and experiment with a wide variety of techniques used in art and design to create a vibrant collection of artworks in a mix of media.
Students will be encouraged at their own pace to develop from their own still life drawings created in the early classes.
Still life arrangements will be set up in the studio and drawn using pens and pencils with the initial focus on artistic devices such as observation, attention to detail and negative space.
Techniques using pastels, ink, food dyes , bleach, resists and collage will enable students to experiment with layering and other exciting methods to develop their original drawings .
Colour, scale, pattern and texture will be the focus but most importantly students will have the freedom to develop a personal style whether illustrative or abstract.
Materials supplied but please could students bring their own brushes (Kate can advise which type)
