UK Coffee Week

Event Location: Scotsdales Great Shelford, Horningsea, Fordham

Date: 29th April – 5th May 2019

Scotsdales are proud to be taking part in UK Coffee Week 2019, helping to celebrate coffee and support Project Waterfall, bringing clean drinking water and sanitation to coffee growing communities around the world.

We’ll be donating 10p from every cup or mug of coffee from each of our three Sunflower cafes.

What is UK Coffee Week?

UK Coffee Week brings the nation together to celebrate coffee, have fun, and raise valuable funds for Project Waterfall. Between 29 April – 5 May thousands of coffee shops, retailers and foodservice outlets will be fundraising by donating money from every cup of coffee they serve, hosting events, or even organising town coffee crawls. Their efforts will give coffee lovers across the UK the chance to support Project Waterfall, and make their cup matter, simply by enjoying their daily cup of coffee. Throughout the week a campaign called ‘My Cup Matters’ will use events, press activity and workshops to highlight why the Project Waterfall initiative is so important and show the positive impact it’s having on lives.

What is Project Waterfall?

Project Waterfall is a charitable initiative delivering clean water, sanitation and education to coffee growing communities. 663 million people worldwide still don’t have access to clean water (WHO, 2016), with most of these people living in rural communities across the developing world. 100% of the funds raised during this year’s UK Coffee Week will go to Project Waterfall’s ongoing work in the rural Jabi Tehnan district of Ethiopia. This work began in 2018, in partnership with WaterAid UK, with the aim of bringing clean drinking water and sanitation to 10,000 people in the area over the next 3 years. Since 2011, Project Waterfall has raised over £1 million and changed more than 40,000 lives in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.
