Westland Bed & Border Bark is a versatile bark perfect for beds, borders, and large planters, bringing a decorative, natural finish to every corner of the garden. These large brown chips (approximately 20-40mm) help suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect plant roots from extreme temperatures. They also help reduce the spread of soil-borne diseases caused by rain splashes. Ideal for all round use, this bed and border bark is even suitable for children’s play areas, offering a safe, impact-absorbing surface with a natural look.

How to Use
FOR BEST WEED-FREE RESULTS
- Lay a perforated fabric membrane under the bark.
- Cut an X shaped hole in the membrane and plant shrubs and flowers into the planting hole.
- Cover the membrane and under the plant canopy with bark chips.
BEDS & BORDERS
- Remove all weeds and debris.
- Spread bark 2.5-5cm deep.
- Be sure to cover the area well underneath every plant canopy and root area.
CONTAINERS & POTS
- Spread a 3-5cm layer of bark over the top of compost or soil. This will provide important thermal insulation, reduce water loss, and make the pots easier to water.
PLAY AREAS
- Spread bark 20-30cm deep. This will provide protection as an impact-absorbing surface. Due to the nature of the product, this may not protect you from splinters or abrasions.
- Rewet the bark in warm conditions to reduce the risk of scratches.
AFTERCARE
- Remove any annual weeds and debris as they appear.
- To maintain a good bark layer, replenish the area with fresh bark annually.
- Check the compost underneath is fresh and has not formed a crusted salt layer, replace is necessary.
- Keep play bark at a minimum depth of 20cm at all times.
